C17th Silk embroidered and stump worked, ebonized casket.
Flemish in origin and most likely for jewelry and toiletry items. Contains six pull out drawers with silk work and stump panels, a hidden drawer with a three paneled removable piece concealing it. These panels are also of silk work and stump. On the inner lid, or top, are two further silk worked panels either side of the mirror. Casket has been restored at various periods but the needle work is original.
Condition varies, loose threads in some areas, worn in others but the color is good having been enclosed. The mirror is most likely original and has a lateral crack. Brass hardware handles for lifting on outside either side and small pulls for each drawer. A rare piece.
